About Us

The Kinshasa Children's Home opened it's doors officially in 1999 when a local church's "street children's program" was felt to be insufficient in caring effectively for so many orphaned and abandoned children. At first the children would come for a small meal and a time of activities such as singing and Bible lessons, but the leaders felt the need to focus on fewer children with more holistic care. And so the KCH was born; ensuring a safe home where children could be cared for, educated and shown the love of God. These children are given a good childhood thanks to the generous support of our few donors, volunteers and care givers. (such as Mama pictured here)

Under the name of the Kinshasa Children's Home there is a boys home and a girls home, both supported and run by a local church. There are 50 boys and 20 girls. Ten staff as well as a large number of volunteers from the church who help in the running of this orphan home. The home is pastored by Pastor Ejiba Yamapia, who has served in ministry for more then 20 years. Warm Blankets Orphan Care International is our key supporting partner and it is through them that we wish to partner with you.

In real African hospitality we welcome you and would love to have you at our home, but this homepage will have to do for now. So please stay, look around and get to know us a little more through our pictures and stories from Kinshasa, Africa.
